Getting started
Where do I find my licence key?
Straight after paying, Gumroad shows your welcome page with your personal licence key. It's also in your Gumroad receipt email (button "Get my app & key") and in your Gumroad Library.
How do I unlock the app?
- Open app.60secondquote.com on your phone.
- Paste your licence key and tap Unlock.
You need internet for this first unlock only. After that the app works without a connection.
How do I add it to my home screen?
- Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen or Install app. Some phones also show an "Install app to home screen" button inside the app.
- iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button → Add to Home Screen.
It then opens like any other app. No app store, no login.
"Key not recognised" — what now?
Copy and paste the key from your receipt email rather than typing it, and check there are no extra spaces. Keys from refunded purchases no longer work. Still stuck? Email support@60secondquote.com with the email address you bought with.
"This key has already been used twice" — what now?
Each key can be used twice, mainly so you're not stuck when you change phones or clear your browser. If you've used both, email support@60secondquote.com with the email address you bought with, and Jacques will help.
How do I set up my business details?
At the top of the quote, fill in your business name, address, phone, email and bank details once, and tap + Logo to add your logo. They're saved and appear on every quote and invoice. You can also set your own quote/invoice number prefix, a default VAT % and a payment link (PayFast, PayPal and so on).
Quoting
How do I make a quote?
- Tap + New for a fresh job.
- Fill in the client's name, the job and their WhatsApp number (with country code, e.g. 27821234567).
- Add line items: description, quantity and price. Totals are worked out for you.
- Preview it, then send it.
How do I save my prices so I don't retype them?
Tap 📚 Items and add your common items with their prices. When quoting, tap + Add next to an item to put it on the quote.
Can I add a discount, VAT or ask for a deposit?
Yes. Each quote has an optional Discount % and VAT %, and a "Request a deposit on this quote" tick box (the deposit % is set with your business details). VAT is only needed if you're VAT-registered.
How do I check what the client will see?
Tap 👁 What client sees for the message, or 👁 Preview PDF to see the exact PDF before anything is sent.
Sending
How do I send a quote?
Choose how: Send via WhatsApp (opens WhatsApp with the quote written out), Send as PDF file (share the PDF to WhatsApp, email or any app), or Send via Email (opens your email app with the quote filled in).
Can my client open the quote as a link?
Yes. Tap 🔗 Copy client view link. On a phone it opens your share menu; on a computer the link is copied so you can paste it into WhatsApp, SMS or email. Your client taps the link and sees the quote or invoice on a clean read-only page — no app or download needed. Your logo isn't shown on that page (it would make the link too long); your business name and details are.
Why can't I edit a quote after sending it?
Once sent, a quote is locked so it always matches what your client received. To move forward: → Convert to Invoice when the job is accepted, ↻ Revise as New if the scope changed, or + New for a different job.
Does it work with no signal?
Yes. After the first unlock you can quote, preview and make PDFs with no internet. You need a connection to actually send it on WhatsApp or by email, like any message.
Invoices & payments
How do I turn a quote into an invoice?
Open the quote and tap → Convert to Invoice. Same job, same lines, now with its own invoice number. You can also start straight away with → Start as Invoice.
How do I record a deposit or payment?
On the invoice, use Log a client payment: enter the date and amount, then tap Log payment. The invoice shows what's been paid and what's still owed, and its status updates to Deposit paid or Paid in full.
How do I see or change a job's status?
Tap 📊 Log. Every quote and invoice is listed. Tap the status badge to change it (quotes: Pending, Accepted, Declined).
Can I send a client a statement of what they owe?
Yes. In 📊 Log, pick the client under "Client statement of account" and tap Generate Client Statement (PDF).
What can I give my bookkeeper?
In 📊 Log: Export log to CSV (opens in Excel) and Generate Business Summary (PDF).
Your data & phones
Where are my quotes stored?
Only on your own phone. There's no account and nothing is sent to a server. That keeps it private, but it means you keep the backup.
How do I back up?
Tap 📊 Log → ⬇ Backup to file. Email the file to yourself or save it to Google Drive. Do it once a week; the app reminds you.
Clearing your browser or its data can delete the app's records from that phone. A recent backup protects you.
How do I move to a new phone?
- On the old phone: 📊 Log → ⬇ Backup to file, and send the file to yourself.
- On the new phone: open app.60secondquote.com and unlock with the same key.
- Tap 📊 Log → ⬆ Restore from file and choose the backup.
Can I use it on two phones at the same time?
You can, but they don't sync. Each phone keeps its own records. Your key can be used twice.
I deleted a job by mistake
Open 📊 Log and scroll to 🗑 Recently deleted at the bottom. Tap ↩ Restore.
Contacts & computers
Why is there no "Import from Contacts" button on my PC, Mac or iPhone?
Web browsers on a PC, Mac or iPhone aren't allowed to read your contact list. Only Chrome on an Android phone can. On those devices the app shows a Load contacts file button instead.
How do I load my contacts?
- Export your contacts as a file. Google Contacts: Export, then choose Google CSV (or vCard). Outlook: Export to a CSV file. iPhone or iCloud: Export vCard. Any
.vcfor.csvcontacts file works. - In the app, tap Load contacts file and choose the file.
- From then on, type a name, number or email to find a client. Tap them and their name, WhatsApp number and email fill in.
Your contacts are stored only on that device. They are never uploaded anywhere. You can remove them any time with Remove loaded contacts.
WhatsApp won't open the chat for a contact I loaded
Contact files often hold local numbers like 082 123 4567. WhatsApp needs the country code, so change it to 27821234567 (27 for South Africa). The app reminds you when a number has no country code.
Can I use it on my phone AND my computer?
Yes, but they don't sync, and each device uses one of your key's two unlocks. A quote made on your phone won't appear on your computer. Pick one main device and use it consistently. To move your records across, use ⬇ Backup to file in the Log on one device and ⬆ Restore from file on the other.
Why isn't WhatsApp in the share menu on my computer?
A computer's share menu only lists WhatsApp if the WhatsApp desktop app is installed and switched on in the menu's Edit Extensions… list. If it isn't there, send by email, or use Send Quote via WhatsApp and attach the PDF from your phone. The app is designed for use on a phone.
Buying
What does it cost?
